Recorded entirely in Austin Texas, VAST tracked much of the album playing together live. Many of the vocals and instruments were recorded in one take giving the record a much more human feel. However, the signature melancholy VAST melodies and themes are here, as well as the sonic and instrumental experimentation that has garnered the band it’s underground fan base.

"I tried to create a more acoustic record, one that sort of took a page from the older roots of rock and even country music but still felt like new territory," says VAST front man Jon Crosby. "I think there are songs here that have a wide appeal, but these songs were meant to be part of an album, so it’s not about selling singles. I really want fans and even people who are new to the band to get a complete musical picture."

"April", more than any previous VAST album, is about the songs and shows what a dedicated band can accomplish by steering clear of trends.
